Your Days in Sentences

Here’s the thirty-first installment of the Boil Your Day Down into One Sentence fun-tacular! Each week I’ll ask for these sentences and each week I’ll post them along with links to the authors’ blogs.

I don’t have much time this week to do more than post each teacher’s sentence. Please take the time to visit each submitter’s blog for more thoughts and wisdom on teaching. Here’s what this week’s teachers said:

First up is Karen, who writes:

Meetings, meeting, meetings……will I even see 1st period again this week?

Karen adds a little background as well: (Let me explain – I have 3 meetings scheduled for 8am Wednesday. The one that I will actually attend will most likely run into the beginning of 1st period. Then another meeting Friday morning. This one is a Department Head meeting that will be scheduled for 7:45am, but won’t start until 8:15 and I’ll be lucky to get to 1st period by 9:15 – halfway into class! We had a Department Head meeting last week that ran into 1st period, as well. I just want to teach!)

Second in line is cityteacher, who writes:

Report cards are easy, dealing with submitting electronic grades is an exercise in futility!

Third up is Jody Hayes, who says:

Ahhh… school holidays and finding time to do those things I love but seem to run short on time for during school – and still missing my class!

Fourth contains a cryptic missive from thirdleopard, who says:

On Monday, I had to make sure that before I left for my dental appointment, I warned my freshmen not to sit on the floor.

Kevin reminds us:

The K12 Online Conference looms on the horizon and although Bonnie and I have a good plan of action for sharing a project with a global audience, we really don’t quite know what we are doing

And you can hear him say it below:

graycie’s got a surprise for you:

SURPRISE: create instant lesson (not what I had planned, mind you) to “creatively teach the handbook to all students;” SURPRISE: fire drill, so now my freshmen classes are nowhere near the same place; SURPRISE: kid I knew well and trusted refused to take responsibility for his tardiness and basically called me a liar to my face in front of the class; SURPRISE: admin (not my hall principal) returned the referral on the kid with the only comment concerning what the kid was upset about; SURPRISE: it’s only Wednesday.

Ringing in from elsewhere is Bonnie, who says:

Greetings from Israel, just a click away and 6 hours ahead of most of you, just after an early morning walk along the beach I return to our great hotel and keep working on a piece for the K-12 Online Conference coming up next month with my buddy Kevin, who is softly reminding me that my piece needs to be done, just a bit of a deadline to end my stall and I am really ready to experiment with http://voicethread.com.

Nancy’s also keeping pretty busy:

Jumping in headfirst, I’ve got Opening Act advising responsibilities, recruiting and coaching for the National Vocabulary Championship, planning tech retreats and department conferences and professional developments, oh my.

So there we go! Another Your Day in a Sentence down and yet another week coming up. Expect another call for entries in a few days.

Thanks again to everyone who participated — you get me out reading your blogs when I otherwise don’t have the time, or when I forget.
