Here’s the twenty-seventh installment of the Boil Your Day Down into One Sentence fun-tacular! Each week I’ll ask for these sentences and each week I’ll post them along with links to the authors’ blogs.
This week, I’m happy to announce the addition of audio to these sentences! Completely inspired by Kevin’s podcasting workshop, [...]

My idea is to create and build an online classroom that can be accessed from the school as well as at home — this classroom would ideally function as a language arts class, but I also envision that students could use this [...]

Whew! Whatta trip. (click for photo album!)
Day One: Munich — We flew from the Western half of the US to Atlanta, sat around in the airport waiting for our other passenger (my wife’s brother). At 2:45 pm we took off on a 9-hour flight into Munich, where we landed the next day [...]

Tried out that debate thing today and I gotta say, I’m really impressed with my students. There are about 10 teams in each class arguing about different types of music. Actually, the arguing begins tomorrow, and we’ll see how that goes; right now I’m impressed with the fact the kids took to this [...]

Whew!
I said it last year, and I’ll say it again:
Do not ask 150 people to turn in rough drafts, only to follow it with a rapid-fire session of extra research, a revised draft, and a final draft.
Last year, though, they did it in a week. This year, they did it in three days.
Three days [...]

In no way is this a complaint about the majority of my students. For the most part, all of my students are writing papers on their research topics, but in each class there are about three kids who fall into three categories of writing.
First, there are the Hungry.
The hungry student shows me his/her research.
“Look [...]

Drove past the school where I did my student teaching practicum. Like any school I’ve ever attended, it seems smaller today. It’s new-ish building, a little over fifty years old, and doesn’t really seem like it was originally built as a school (and if it was, the walls-that-don’t-quite-reach-the-ceiling give the impression that classrooms [...]

I think I’m programmed. I get up at about 5:00am every day for work. Each morning the ritual goes as follows:
.
.
.
Come downstairs
Feed the cat
Make coffee
Turn on the computer and check email, blog stats/comments, check other blogs, read the news.
Shower
Make sure wife gets up
Start car
Leave for work
After that, who knows what might happen.
Even though [...]

You know how, when you’re a student teacher (or just someone entering into the education field) (or if you’ve ever seen a movie about teachers), you hear a specific phrase several times: “If I only reach one student, my work is done…”
I don’t think I believe in that, but there are [...]
